To help students and families navigate financial aid processing delays and to provide additional flexibility, the University is extending a 14-day grace period beyond the August 31st payment due date. All students will not incur late fees on outstanding balances as long as payment is received by September 14, 2026.

Important: University systems will automatically place a financial hold on any student account with an outstanding balance as of September 1, 2026, even if financial aid is still pending. Students will receive a notification if a hold is placed on their account. The hold will not impact a student's current semester enrollment, and students and families still have until September 14, 2026, to pay the balance without incurring late fees. 

The Office of the Bursar oversees the student account (billing, payments, installment payment plan, collections, financial holds, late fees, refunds of excess aid) for all Penn State students across all campuses.

Important: Penn State is prohibited by the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) from releasing any student information without the student's prior consent. Bursar representatives can only communicate specifics on a student account with the student and with the Authorized User(s) designated as such by the student in our system.
